Your Itinerary

10 days
  • Reykholt
  • Hveragerdi
  • Vík í Mýrdal
  • Reykjavik

There are trips – and then there's Iceland. From the very first glimpse of the endless views from your hot tub, your heart’s bound to skip a beat. Your road trip starts off in Reykholt, where steam rises from hot springs and nature greets you gently. Continue on to Hveragerdi and feel the ground practically breathing beneath your feet before embarking on the biggest adventure of all: Highland Base Kerlingarfjöll. Here, barren valleys meet steaming earth and colourful mountains that look like a scene from a painting. Next, it's on to Vík í Mýrdal on the south coast for black sand, thundering waterfalls and drama in its purest form. Spend nights at the Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon and days at Diamond Beach and Jökulsárlón, where the ice really does sparkle like jewels. And for the grand finale, it's off to the cool and creative Nordic city of Reykjavík. One thing's for sure: on this trip, you're in for endless goosebump moments!

It's road trip time! The day's first rays accompany you on your way to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, which is set to stun with its dramatic landscapes. Your first stop is Ytri-Tunga Beach, where a whole gang of seals is chilling in the sun – cuteness overload! Next up: Bjarnafoss, a cascading waterfall that plunges over 260 feet into the depths below. And then it's on to the lonely, mysterious and seriously impressive Black Church of Búðir. After cruising past mossy lava fields and through the Raudfeldsgjá gorge, you'll eventually reach the wild coast. Cliffs braced against the surf, a jet-black sandy beach at Djúpalónssandur and a rusty shipwreck create proper film-like vibes. And if you take a short hike to the Saxhóll crater, you'll be captivated by the view of the mighty Snæfellsjökull glacier. It's pure Icelandic magic! For the finale, it's off to Kirkjufell and Kirkjufellsfoss – a sight straight out of Game of Thrones.

Reykholt fades away behind you, and a new chapter of Iceland's nature unfolds ahead: the legendary Golden Circle, where the forces of nature and epic landscapes are just waiting to blow you away. Adventure mode on – the next few hours promise to be wild.  First stop: Thingvellir. Nowhere else can you see so clearly just how our planet works. Hike through the dramatic Almannagjá gorge and check out the impressive Öxarárfoss waterfall before continuing on to the absolute showstopper: the geysers in the Haukadalur valley! Every few minutes, Strokkur, as it's called, sends a torrent of boiling water soaring into the air. It's dangerously hot and the smell of sulphur is intense, but the spectacle's a true 10/10! Then it's on to Gullfoss, where thundering masses of icy water cascade through a narrow gorge. Stand at the edge, feel the spray on your face and just marvel at Iceland's unreal sights.  Take breaks along the way wherever you please until you finally reach Hveragerdi. And when you park up, you'll be sure of one thing: you've never had such a beautiful road trip!

The route from Hveragerdi starts off gently through rolling hills, past steaming springs and along green valleys. But the scenery soon changes, and the tarmac gives way to the rugged wilderness. Gravel crunches under your wheels, the wind sweeps across the grey plains and the air smells of sulphur and stone. Here, you feel like you're not just travelling but rather crossing some kind of border. And right at the end, Highland Base crests the horizon, powerful and protective at the same time, like a refuge in the middle of the bleak landscape. Inside, a quiet elegance awaits – open-air hot tubs, cocoon-like rooms and a restaurant serving up Nordic cuisine. Welcome to your exclusive hideaway in the middle of nowhere!
